Project Overview

Allison Architects Bearsden project located on Ralston Road was commenced in 2021 and is nearing completion on site. Our clients were looking to create additional space in their Arts and Crafts house to accommodate a larger kitchen, dining living space, two additional double bedrooms and a new family bathroom.

The Brief

The clients were looking for high quality architects in Bearsden and they decided to work with us at Allison Architects. The existing house was built at the turn of the century and is a beautiful example of the Arts and Crafts movement in Scotland from this time. The design had to then be extremeley sensitive to the existing archtiecture to complement the existing style and finish.

The Design

We looked to create an additional asymmetrical gable to the front of the house to echo the existing gable. Our windows were designed to match the existing with sandstone surrounds and sash and case timber units.

The rear of the house has a two storey gable extension to tie in with the existing. the glazing to the rear also captures the asymmetrical quirkiness of the original design but adds in the contemporary feature of the corner bi-fold glazing.
