Glasgow Architects – Mews House Design in Kelvingrove

The Brief

Glasgow Architects Allison Architecture were asked to create a contemporary design for the 3 bedroom mews house over three levels.

Project Update

Our mews house design in Glasgow Kelvingrove Park Area has now received Planning Permission.

Project Overview

Our Glasgow mews house design concept was to respond to the historic context to the front with the use of smooth blonde ashlar sandstone to tie in with the neighbouring mews house.

Our Glasgow architects then designed the rear to tie in contextually with the adjacent mews houses with white brick and zinc.

Designing mews houses in the Glasgow Kelvingrove area to meet with Planning Policy is a great challenge. Many policy parameters must be fulfilled to avoid overlooking and privacy failures in addition to developing a design which is sympathetic to the historic environment yet achieving a unique and contemporary piece of architecture.

Allison Architecture have worked with Glasgow City Council Planning and Listed Buildings for over 10 years. Developing relationships with the Planning Officers to understand their point of view and to communicate effectively with them.

For some of our other mews house designs take a look at our design for Loudon Terrace and North Kelvinside.
