The Arran new build house Project had a difficult start with South Ayrshire Council Planning Department keen to see all new buildings on the island finished in white render.

Adjacent property owners were not keen to see a new building beside their own but fortunately for our client the precedent had been established and the go ahead was given.

The client has taken on most of the construction project himself but not without a huge amount of help from Neil Currie the joiner. The Timber kit was fabricated by GT Buildings of Airdrie and then shipped over by Arran Haulage.

The client came to Allison Architecture as Arran Architects are in short supply and the client was looking for something a little different using traditional materials to create a simple and understated contemporary design which will have longevity.
