Allison Architects Bearsden extension is now complete.
Our Bearsden clients approached Allison Architects to develop designs for their new extension project.
Our client initially spoke with a number of architects in Bearsden but decided to go with Allison Architecture as we showed a real understanding of their needs and had the design flair to come up with a truly beautiful result
The clients were looking for a generous additional space which could form an additional living space and the family dining space which would be directly adjacent to their existing kitchen.
The house is one of the more spacious typical Bearsden bungalows with a converted attic space. As we find on many occasions the space inside these homes is slightly limited for today’s families.
The desire was for the design to work sympathetically with the existing house. so we employed a smooth white render to the walls and matched the roof tiles to the existing.
The client also wanted a raised terrace area which would be sheltered to provide an attractive seating area but would maximise views and access to the garden.
The structure for such a roof overhang was quite extensive to prevent the wind catching the underside. It was our idea to express all of this structural steel on the outer leaf of the walls to give architectural presence to the structure.
The project construction was carried out by ABC construction whom we have worked with now on many occasions. we are always delighted with their incredible attention to detail and their friendly and polite manner.

We offered full architects’ services for this Bearsden house extension project. Our clients were looking for architects, Bearsden based or Glasgow based to help transform their recently purchased house into a dream home.
Glasgow Architects, Allison Architecture, were quickly chosen as the best team for this extension project. Although we are based in Glasgow, Stephen Allison, Principal Architect, lives in Bearsden making Bearsden based design projects within easy reach for meetings and supervision inspections.
This Bearsden house design project was originally one and a half storey, semi-detached 3 bedroom house with three reception rooms on the ground floor and a small kitchen.
We extended to the rear of the house over two levels creating a large additional en-suite bedroom on the first floor.
On the ground floor we knocked through between the original dining room and the kitchen and with the kitchen extension created a large living / kitchen / dining space to complement the large formal lounge to the front of the house.
The large bi-fold doors open up the entire corner of the house onto a new terrace creating a fantastic new external room to the house.
